In Britain there’s no escaping the big news story of the moment – the News Of The World phone hacking scandal involving Rupert Murdoch’s News Corporation.
The story has gone global and The Daily Show is never one to miss out on a headline like this.

I’ve really been getting into The Daily Show over recent weeks. I’ve been trying to catch it every week on Virgin Media’s On Demand service – and have become seriously hooked. John Oliver has to be one of the funniest correspondents I’ve seen on the show – some of the stuff he comes out with is hilarious. I like the way they portray him as a stereotypical Brit. Most of his humour is very sarcastic as well. Take the recent dialogue about Iraq winning their version of the football World Cup – “Oh, symbolically. Yeah, of course. In that case, they’re well on their way to winning the symbolic World Cup, no doubt cheered on by their figurative fans, and returning to a jubilant metaphorical nation. And perhaps–perhaps you’re right, Jon. Perhaps now their hypothetical government will be inspired to pseudo-bring some quasi-order to this ‘country’”. Genius. Oh, and this recent segment.
