JKL special live broadcast on 26th February

Despite the show’s name Jimmy Kimmel Live rarely airs live these days. However, there is one exception – the annual Academy Awards special.

The 7th annual “Jimmy Kimmel Live: After The Academy Awards” programme will air on ABC on Sunday 26th February immediately after the 84th Academy Awards hosted by Billy Crystal and the late local news.

Previous “After The Academy Awards” programmes have been packed full of guests and debuts of Jimmy Kimmel Live’s popular comedy pieces such as “I’m F***ing Ben Affleck”.

This year’s special will also see an array of guests including Billy Crystal, Meryl Streep, George Clooney, Tom Hanks, Martin Scorsese, Helen Mirren, Charlize Theron and Don Cheadle.

Coldplay will close the show with a performance on Jimmy Kimmel Live’s outdoor stage.

Jimmy Kimmel Live moves to midnight

ABC have moved Jimmy Kimmel Live to a slightly earlier timeslot.

The Hollywood Reporter reports “ABC will start Kimmel at exactly midnight — instead of 12:05 a.m. — beginning Feb. 4. The move effectively shortens successful ABC News magazine Nightline (which begins at 11:35 p.m. after the late local news) by five minutes”.

Jimmy Kimmel on The Jay Leno Show

Jimmy Kimmel appeared on The Jay Leno Show on Thursday night live from his Jimmy Kimmel Live studio for the “10 @ 10″ feature.

The interview between Jimmy and Jay was somewhat uncomfortable following Kimmel’s impression of Leno on his programme this week. When Jimmy offered Jay to appear on Jimmy Kimmel Live on a “12 @ 12″ feature Jay said he was busy.

Leno said to him “you’re known for pranks – what’s the best prank you ever pulled?” and Kimmel answered “I think the best prank I ever pulled was I told a guy that 5 years from now I’m going to give you my show and then when the five years came up I gave it to him and then I took it back almost instantly… I think he works at Fox or something now”.

Another question from Jay was “ever order anything off the TV?” With Kimmel asking “like NBC ordered your show off the TV?”

Jimmy Kimmel to appear on Leno

Jimmy Kimmel will appear on The Jay Leno Show tonight following his uncanny impression of Jay Leno on Tuesday night’s Jimmy Kimmel Live. TV Guide reports Kimmel will appear on the 10 @ 10 feature on The Jay Leno Show tonight via satellite link from the Jimmy Kimmel live stage.

He’ll probably not dress up as Jay for the appearance, but anything’s possible. TV Guide says Jimmy got a call from The Jay Leno Show saying they want him on the programme “to explain myself… so, that will be comfortable”.

Talk show hosts react to Leno news

Talk show hosts have been reacting to the recent news about The Jay Leno Show and what effect it has on The Tonight Show With Conan O’Brien, Late Night With Jimmy Fallon and Last Call With Carson Daly.

David Letterman thinks it’s best if Jay Leno and Conan O’Brien shared The Tonight Show hosting duties together at 11.35pm every night instead of having two separate shows. Jimmy Kimmel dressed up as Jay Leno for his entire Jimmy Kimmel Live show last night and did an excellent Leno impression (albeit a Leno impression with a lisp). Conan O’Brien brought out Howie Mandel from Deal Or No Deal USA to help him make decisions about what to do next.

Paul Shaffer’s interview on Jimmy Kimmel Live

Paul Shaffer was a guest on Jimmy Kimmel Live last night. The band leader for the Late Show With David Letterman was on the programme to promote his new book We’ll Be Here For The Rest Of Our Lives. It’s quite odd to see Paul on another talk show other than the Late Show but it was a good interview. Paul discussed his time in Las Vegas, his parents, Jerry Lewis, his production of Godspell early on in his career and also talked about David Letterman & what Dave thought of Jimmy Kimmel and his show.
