Since January 2011 More 4 decided to stop airing the nightly editions of The Daily Show and just broadcast the “best-of” complilation show – known as The Daily Show Global Edition – at 11.05pm every Monday.

Louis Theroux has been speaking to Radio Times calling for the show to be reinstated into More 4′s nightly lineup – “there is no show in the history of television that has been as consistently funny and as incisive, in my opinion, as The Daily Show with Jon Stewart”.

He went on to say “in a crazy world it is one of the few shows that keeps me sane, with its puncturing of ludicrous public figures, official doublespeak, hypocrisy; and its commentary on the uniquely weird cultural landscape of 21st century America… I have been an obsessed fan for many years and I sang hosannas of gratitude when More4 began broadcasting the show – which turned to wailing lamentations after it was dumped due to low ratings”.

He also points out it’s a critical year for it to be on the air due to the upcoming Presidential elections this November – “The Daily Show is brilliant always but in an election year, it is something more than brilliant, it is essential… please join me in demanding that More4 reinstates the full four days a week of The Daily Show”.

Radio Times have opened a poll on their website so you can vote as to whether you want The Daily Show to return to More 4 – click here to vote.

Also, please become a member of our petition on Facebook to get The Daily Show back on UK TV on a nightly basis (whether it be on More 4 or on another channel) – www.lateshowuk.com/dailyshowpetition

Craig Ferguson is reportedly “in talks” to bring his popular late night CBS talk show the Late Late Show to Scotland for a week later this year.

According to The Daily Record “he has told friends he’s keen to return to Scotland in March and record a week’s worth of material at the place where it all began. He has enlisted the help of Fringe comedy impresario Karen Koren and contacted Tommy Sheppard at The Stand Comedy Club about appearing for a few dates this year”.

An insider told The Daily Record “he may record five shows here in a row around March with the possibility of a further few gigs at the Edinburgh Festival later in the year”.

Comedy Central UK have launched a minisite for The Daily Show With Jon Stewart.

There have been many frustrations for UK fans of The Daily Show in recent times – first the official website for The Daily Show on Comedy Central US blocked all clips if you were outside of the States, then the show was axed from More 4 so there was nowhere left to watch it.

The new minisite from Comedy Central UK provides clips of The Daily Show for UK viewers, but not full episodes yet.

In a news piece on the Comedy Central UK website, they say:

We know there’s a huge Daily Show fan base here in the UK but most of you can’t access the US video clips. Argh! Here’s where Comedy Central UK comes in.

You’ve been asking us on Facebook, Twitter and even by carrier pigeon (not true) so we’ve had a word with our pals over the Atlantic to give you what you want. Kinda.

As we don’t air the show on the channel, we can’t bring you full episodes online at present BUT every week we’ll be bringing you specially selected clips from each of the shows from the past 30 days including interviews with Jon’s special guests, The Daily Show 60 Second round ups and of course the Moments of Zen.

Click here to visit the new minisite.

Will The Daily Show be coming to Comedy Central UK on TV eventually? I hope so.

As we posted last weekend, Coldplay performed a special Live On Letterman concert for the Late Show in September, and separately performed a track for an episode of the Late Show With David Letterman.

Coldplay seemed to enjoy their time at the Ed Sullivan Theater so much that they refused to leave and gave an impromptu encore performance of Us Against The World for the Late Show audience.

Their roadies were trying to clear the equipment away at the time, but Chris and the band just wanted to carry on and perform. Chris had problems with his microphone so played the encore performance without one.

Contactmusic reports “Slowly everyone joins in on stage. Will realises that Chris has taken the piano stool, so ends up kneeling on the floor. Jonny and Guy have their volume backed almost to off. The whole thing is just a joy to witness. Completely off the script, unplanned and ramshackle, but at the same time completely wonderful. Just the band and the audience sharing the moment”.

They say one of the roadies stated “roadies commence unplugging and switching off and then suddenly Chris is spotted walking back to the stage. Further chaos and pandemonium ensues as it transpires they’re going to do Us Against the World”.

Watch the special encore performance below – recorded by somebody in the Ed Sullivan Theater crowd:

The Jonathan Ross Show made its premiere on ITV1 last night. Guests on the opening show were Sarah Jessica Parker, Lewis Hamilton and Adele.

The new talk show followed a very similar format to his old BBC1 show Friday Night With Jonathan Ross. So much so that certain reviewers are describing it as the same show but with adverts.

It’s a very traditional talk show and still features the backstage “green room” area where guests wait and are shown on a TV screen.

After one guest is interviewed they return to the “green room” area – the same as his old BBC1 show worked (not like The Graham Norton Show where the guest normally stays out when the next one is interviewed.

The set for the show looks very American-esque and reminded me a lot of the sets for The Tonight Show With Jay Leno and Conan.

The new theme tune was produced by Mark Ronson and featured trumpets and orchestral sounds – again, similar to the theme tunes for The Tonight Show, Late Night and Conan in the US.

An ITV1 repeat will air on Thursday 10.35pm and a further repeat will air on ITV2 on Friday at 11.40pm.

The full show is available to watch on ITV Player and there are a couple of exclusive online clips they couldn’t fit into the show:
