Google Maps Street View is a new thing in the US. If you ever wondered what 53rd Street looks like you can have a look here. Notice Roseland where many a basketball and golf ball have landed. In this view, the theatre is on the left. There’s the Hello Deli. And here’s the Ed Sullivan Theatre.
What can you find?

More vintage Late Night. TV Squad have the first ever episode of Late Night with Conan O’Brien (watch it here).
The build up to the start is fantastic - this is a must see for any Conan fan. It’s also an opportunity to see Andy Richter - originally a sidekick on the show. Part of the first gesture is still used today, and the setup to Actual Small Town Items is slightly funnier now (”These are real. Why would you make them up? That’d be stupid”), with the take on Jay Leno as a bonus.
If the set looks familiar, you might recognise it from the episode of The Simpsons where Bart appears on Late Night. (Clip on YouTube)

Someone over on YouTube (fivealex2007) has uploaded some fantastic videos from Late Night With David Letterman, featuring Jay Leno as a guest. Some very funny interviews - I’d highly recommend you watch them (below). They include some pretty insane animal impressions performed by Jay, and a discussion about Penthouse letters.

In a recent interview with CNN, Jay Leno has expressed his admiration for David Letterman, and how there are no hard feelings between them. Jay is coming up to his 15th year hosting The Tonight Show. Dave was favourite to takeover when Johnny Carson retired, but it went to Leno instead - which meant Dave moving to CBS to host the Late Show. Leno said “Dave’s always been a gentleman. There’s never, never been any bad words between us”. Jay also said how Conan (hosting Late Night) - who takes over from Leno as the host of The Tonight Show in a few years - has “blossomed into a terrific talk show host, an extremely talented writer, a funny performer”.
