The nominations for this year’s TV BAFTA awards have been announced.
Jonathan Ross is nominated in the Best Entertainment Performance category for Friday Night With Jonathan Ross, and The Daily Show With Jon Stewart is nominated in the International category.
Jonathan Ross being nominated for an award has been a controversial subject for some people, because of the BBC Radio 2 incident with Russell Brand last year, leading to Jonathan’s temporary suspension from the BBC.
The BAFTA TV awards ceremony takes place on Sunday 26th April.

Congratulations Dave!
David Letterman married his long-term partner Regina Lasko last week. On the 19th March, they married at the Teton County Courthouse in Choteau, Montana.
Letterman made the news public on yesterday’s edition of the Late Show With David Letterman, joking “Regina and I began dating in February of 1986… things are going pretty good, let’s just see what happens in about 10 years”. David has kept his relationship with Regina out of the press and out of the media spotlight.
Dave has famously rejected the idea of marriage whenever the subject is brought up – usually referring to Regina as “the mother of my child”. He said (on Monday’s Late Show) “I avoided getting married pretty good for, like, 23 years… I secretly felt that men who were married admired me… like I was the last of the real gunslingers”.
There was a hitch before he made it to the aisle last week though – his truck got stuck in the mud and they had to wait to be pulled out to make it to the Courthouse for their marriage ceremony. He says “so now we think well somebody’ll come – no, nobody comes along. Nobody comes along – it’s Thursday afternoon – who’s coming along – Zorro? No – nobody. So I get out of the truck and I walk two miles back to the house into a 50 mph wind”. He then jokes “‘see smart ass… you try to get married, this is what happens”.
When Harry started asking whether it was all still going ahead, Dave said “he gets very upset because mom had told him if I wasn’t back in an hour, the deal was off”.
NBC Los Angeles reports “the couple, together since 1986, were flanked by two friends and their 5-year-old son Harry as they stood together in the second floor of the 103-year-old building while the Justice of the Peace officiated the wedding”.

Bruce Springsteen stopped by The Daily Show With Jon Stewart on Thursday night. Jon Stewart is a huge fan of Bruce, and you could tell he was overcome to meet him.
In addition to an interview on the programme, Bruce Springsteen also did a fantastic music performance of Working On A Dream.
It’s very rare for The Daily Show to have music on the programme – the last music performance was Coldplay back on the 25th June last year.

Barack Obama’s appearance on The Tonight Show With Jay Leno last night has been much talked about today. Mr Obama made TV history – making it the first time that a serving US President has appeared as a guest on a late-night talk show.
The US President’s interview on the programme attracted a huge ratings boost for The Tonight Show – according to the ArtsBeat blog on The New York Times website, The Tonight Show “matched its highest rating in the last 11 years… based on the measure available Friday, from the country’s 56 largest cities, Mr. Obama’s visit with Jay Leno produced an 11.2 rating”. The interview on the show lasted much longer than most guest interviews – almost 30 minutes.
President Obama discussed the important subject of the economic downturn including what he thinks about the executives at the huge financial company AIG taking bonuses at these tough times. Obama said “who in their right mind, when your company is going bust, decides we’re going to be paying a whole bunch of bonuses to people?”.
The President also talked about the publicised Whitehouse dog, which he announced he was going to get for his family after he won the election last year – “they say if you want a friend in Washington, get a dog”.
Speaking about Washington, he said “it’s a little bit like American Idol, except everybody is Simon Cowell”, and when asked about the difficult economic times he stated “I welcome the challenge”.
