Emmy wins for Conan, Daily Show

Two shows we cover here went home with awards last night. The award for ‘Variety, Music or Comedy Series’ went to the Daily Show with Jon Stewart, and ‘Writing, Variety, Music or Comedy Program’ went to Late Night with Conan O’Brien (AP).

Apparantly one of the biggest laughs of the night occured when Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert announced Ricky Gervais had won an Emmy for Extras. Gervais couldn’t be there, so Stewart explained they were going to give the award to Steve Carrell (The ‘US’ Office) who joined them on stage for a group hug.
