Diva TV drops the Late Show With David Letterman

Last night’s Late Show With David Letterman broadcast on Diva TV seems to have been the last ever Diva TV airing of the show, as it’s not mentioned in the upcoming schedules at all on their website and on the TV Guide (UK) website. Late Show With David Letterman was axed to just being on weekends several months ago – it used to air Monday-Friday and on weekends before it was cut down to just the two weekend shows per week. Now it looks like Diva TV have decided to axe the Late Show altogether. Let’s hope another channel picks it up and let’s hope it’s a channel who understands the genius of the Letterman wit. The shows that Diva TV were showing on weekends were so old anyway it was hardly worth them airing them as most of the topical elements were outdated by the time it aired on Diva TV. Please feel free to sign the Late Show petition by clicking here.

Update (13:47) – All mentions of the Late Show With David Letterman have been removed from the Diva TV website, so this pretty much confirms that it’s been axed from the channel.

  1. Very sad news. Letterman in the UK has had a sorry ride, I can’t see anyone else picking up on it. Thanks for the info, your site is a must read each day.

  2. They still list Letterman in the forum, Diva can’t even be bothered to take that down.

  3. Thanks for the info – back to “breaking the law” for me!

Seriously though,it’s ridiculous. I’ve said on Digital Spy that FX would be the perfect channel for Dave. The way they treat The Colbert Report is perfect – shown every night, 24 hours after the US broadcast, uncut.

Put Letterman on at 11.30 every night, straight after Colbert. Perfect.

  4. If I remember rightly, Letterman has been irregularly shown in the UK on Sky, Paramount, ITV and Diva. Also if Diva are NBC and Letterman is CBS there may be a clash of interest. Perhaps Letterman wants too much money for broadcasting rights? In my opinion it’s not nearly the fun it used to be but, with so many TV satellite channels, someone should take it up!

  10. Thanks for the tip-off Darren.

If this is going to happen that will be amazing news as Virgin 1 is available on Freeview too.

I will send them an email and as soon as I have any news about this I will post it up on our website.

  12. A month’s gone by since the comment before me about Dave maybe coming to Virgin TV. Anyone heard more about that ?

    Comment by D D — 23 November @ 5:35 pm

  13. Not that I know of, no. Someone over on the Letterman thread on Digital Spy said they contacted Virgin 1 and they denied it’s coming to the channel and said it’s not suitable for Virgin 1. Watch this space I suppose – as it could be under embargo until January I guess.
