Even though he’s retiring from The Tonight Show next year, it doesn’t mean Jay Leno won’t be on NBC again. It has been revealed he will host a new talk show in primetime. The Telegraph says Leno will “host an hour-long talk show at 10pm” and it’s been revealed the name of the programme at the moment will be called The Jay Leno Show but this is subject to change. The new programme will air 5 nights a week in the primetime 10pm timeslot.
This is a very surprising move for NBC as it means the usual dramas that air at 10pm will either be moved to other timeslots or some axed altogether, however this may be the boost NBC needs as it has been struggling in primetime lately. Leno jokingly said “people were shocked… they didn’t know NBC still had a prime time” on Tuesday night’s edition of The Tonight Show.
It’s still believed Late Night With Jimmy Fallon will stay at it’s proposed 12.35am timeslot Monday to Friday, with The Tonight Show (with new host Conan O’Brien) airing at 11.35pm. This will mean there’ll be The Jay Leno Show at 10pm, The Tonight Show With Conan O’Brien at 11.35pm and Late Night With Jimmy Fallon at 12.35am throughout the week Monday-Friday.
