Larry Wilmore to replace Stephen Colbert with The Minority Report

Larry WilmoreLarry Wilmore will take over from Stephen Colbert on Comedy Central, when Stephen leaves at the end of this year to host the Late Show on CBS in 2015.

The current “Senior Black Correspondent” on The Daily Show With Jon Stewart will begin his new show called The Minority Report in the 11.30pm timeslot on Comedy Central in January.

The Minority Report was created by Daily Show host Jon Stewart and will be produced by Stewart’s company Busboy Productions.

Jon Stewart joked, in the official press release, “while Larry Wilmore is a brilliant comic and showrunner, this is all just a complicated ruse to get him to move to New York and turn him into a Knicks fan”.

Wilmore said “I’m beyond excited to have this chance to continue my relationships with Comedy Central and the brilliant Jon Stewart… I love the city of New York and promise to only wear my Laker T-shirts when I’m layering”.

Larry has been on The Daily Show since 2006, and has been a writer for In Living Color, The Fresh Prince Of Bel-Air and The Jamie Foxx Show. He also co-created The PJs with Eddie Murphy and The Bernie Mac Show with the late Bernie Mac.
