Graham Norton and Alan Carr win at the British Comedy Awards

The annual British Comedy Awards hosted by Jonathan Ross were held in London tonight (12th December) and broadcast live on Channel 4. The Graham Norton Show won Best Comedy Entertainment Programme, although the ceremony was overrunning so his recorded acceptance speech was never broadcast. Alan Carr was also a winner – he won Best Comedy Entertainment Personality for his work on Alan Carr: Chatty Man. For a list of all of the winners click here.

The Graham Norton Show returns to BBC1 this Friday. The programme, now in its 14th series, will feature guests Harrison Ford, Benedict Cumberbatch, Jack Whitehall and James Blunt this Friday night. Natalie Portman, Katy Perry, James Corden and Paul McCartney will be guests on the second show next week. Graham Norton’s marathon talk show The Big Chat took place live on BBC Three this week. The host & comedian took over the channel from 7pm to 1am on Thursday with a live talk show in aid of Comic Relief. Over £1 million was raised throughout the show (which stayed on air 15 minutes after 1am to reach the mammoth target) – £1,022,982 to be precise. The money will help people at home and in Africa.
