James Corden confirmed as new Late Late Show host

James CordenCBS have confirmed James Corden will take over as host of the Late Late Show when Craig Ferguson steps down at the end of the year. This was rumoured back in August.

British actor, comedian and presenter James Corden will start hosting the late night programme in 2015.

He’s relatively unknown in the US but starred in Broadway show One Man Two Guvnors to rave reviews recently, and is currently appearing in film Begin Again with Keira Knightley and Mark Ruffalo, and will soon be in film Into The Woods with Meryl Streep, Johnny Depp and Emily Blunt.

In the UK he’s most known for his writing and acting in BBC sitcom Gavin & Stacey, hit BBC comedy The Wrong Mans and as host of Sky1’s hugely-popular comedy sports quiz show A League Of Their Own. In addition to hosting A League Of Their Own he’s also had further experience with a live audience having hosted The BRIT Awards in recent years.

In the official CBS press release, chairman of CBS Entertainment Nina Tassler said “James Corden is a rare entertainment force who combines irresistible charm, warmth and originality with a diverse range of creative instincts and performance talent… he is the ultimate multi-hyphenate – a writer, creator and performer who is loved and respected in every medium he touches, including theater, comedy, music, film and television. James is already a big star in the UK and he’s wowed American audiences on Broadway; we’re very excited to introduce his considerable and very unique talents to our network television audience on a daily basis”.

Speaking in the press release, James Corden said he “can’t describe how thrilled and honoured I am to be taking over from the brilliant Craig Ferguson… to be asked to host such a prestigious show on America’s #1 network is hugely exciting. I can’t wait to get started, and will do my very best to make a show America will enjoy”.

It’s not yet been confirmed where the new Late Late Show With James Corden will be recorded and the exact start date is to be announced nearer the time. Craig Ferguson steps down in December 2014.
