Jimmy Kimmel Live debuts at 11:35 & beats the competition

Jimmy Kimmel Live moved to its new earlier 11.35pm timeslot on ABC this week.

ABC are hoping to gain the young viewership to win in the ratings against CBS’s Late Show With David Letterman and NBC’s The Tonight Show With Jay Leno.

The move to the earlier timeslot should also see bigger name guests being booked on the show.

Kimmel received a brand new set for the 11.35pm move and Jimmy has announced Matt Damon will finally make an appearance on the programme on the 24th January after years of the infamous “We ran out of time…” excuses for cutting Matt from the show.

The move is going to plan according to The Washington Post who report “Kimmel snagged his biggest audience since moving to the earlier timeslot — about 3.2 million viewers — beating both Dave and Jay” in his first night at 11.35pm.

The Washington Post – “Jimmy Kimmel beats Leno and Letterman in the ratings, but insists he’ll ultimately be No. 3”
