Bill Scheft – a writer on the Late Show With David Letterman – has been talking to The Los Angeles Times (calendarlive.com) about the strike and whether he thinks Dave will be back hosting the show before the WGA strike is resolved. Bill told The Los Angeles Times “I’m sure he’s struggling with it… In fact, I know he is… He’s done a great service” and also adds “I know when and if he comes back, it will be the right thing”. David Letterman – like other late night chat show hosts – has been paying his non-writing staff (and the staff of the Late Late Show With Craig Ferguson, which is produced by Letterman’s own company – Worldwide Pants Inc) for several weeks now, and has agreed to continue doing so until the end of this year. The Los Angeles Times (calendarlive.com) article by Matea Gold says “Scheft claimed that the writers won’t be upset if Letterman decides to resume production”. Watch this space.
