The writers strike is in its fifth week now – if the strike continues this could mean the Christmas special episode of the Late Show With David Letterman (a Christmas tradition with Darlene Love and Jay Thomas) may not go ahead. All late night US chat shows have been airing reruns for the duration of the WGA strike, with NBC bosses deciding to air episodes of The Tonight Show With Jay Leno from the 1990s in recent weeks. However, there is some good news – the BBC News website states “striking Hollywood writers say contract negotiations with producers are starting to sound optimistic”. The WGA rejected a deal last week, but talks are ongoing. Support the WGA.
